So Candidates here is an article about MIKOYAN GUREVICH MIG 21 and it's facts

The Soviet union was in a requirement for a low cost
Low Range interceptor (Engaging enemy aircrafts)
Which led to the birth of MiG 21

A low cost delta wing design aircraft which had the landing gear arrangement similar to Sukhoi series
This aircraft is termed the world's most produced aircraft
With over 11104+ units produced
This aircraft almost witnessed every war from the Vietnam war all the way to Pakistan's retaliation (Which was not a war I know  but as an air of air engagement I am considering it)

Okay so that warps up the basic history let's discuss about IAF MIGS and it's high crash rate

The MIGS entered service in IAF around in 1971 almost near in the time of Bangladesh liberation war there MIGS were not actively used but they gave a hard dent to our enemy in OPERATION SAFED SAGAR

The IAF currently maintains a fleet of 180+ MIG 21s
Which obviously need replacement

But but.....

The aircraft was upgraded always to enhance it's life
The main problem comes with spare parts which are not available
Therefore original parts are fixed which is not an effective solution

Problems with MIGS
1)The air intake is at the nose of the aircraft
So if a pilot pulls G's for a long time especially negative G's the engine generally flames out (Engine shuts down due to lack of combustion due to lack of oxygen)
2)Maintainance problem
3)Low visibility from pilot's POV(POINT OF VIEW)
4) Ejection seats take time to activate risking pilot's life
5) Angle of attack management
(OPTIONAL POINT)
Since this point is optional it's your choice to learn it

Every MiG 21 pilot has the greatest nightmare when the Angle of attack extends 22.6 degrees because at that point the aircraft would be literally aerobraking Thus stalling the aircraft.
