What is PARA SF ?

          PARA Special Forces commonly known as PARA SF, is the Elite and Special operational and most secret unit of the Indian Army. Parachute Regiment is parent unit.

All about PARA SF.

          Special Force of the Indian Army and Part of the Parachute Regiment. There are 9 battalions of PARA SF ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 21 PARA ). Each & every battalion is expert to operate in any kind of condition & location.

          The Maroon Beret & the Balidan Badge are main indentations of a PARA commando. Only PARA SF can wear the Balidan Badge. And they are also known as PARA COMMANDO in civilians.

              The motto of PARA SF is " MEN APART, EVERY MAN AN EMPEROR." and the war cry is “Tum bharat ke veer ho, Tum apne desh ke rakshak ho. Tu apni himmat badaye ja, jati bhedbhav ko mitaye ja. Kadam Badaye Ja, Piche Hatna kaam nahi, aage badhe ja.“

          The training of PARA SF probationers is very hard & difficult, only 10% to 12% probationers can complete their training. &  the deaths of probationers have been reported during their training. They made to train in any kind of condition, thag make them strong.

          PARA SF has earned the reputation of thoughest unite in the world. PARA SF works in small teams, five to eight men in a team and each Special Forces operative specialises in five basic skill such as Demolition, Weapons, Communications, Navigation, Medical.

          In peace time PARA SF do Exercise with the various other countries elite SF ( e.g. US special force, Exercise name - Yudhya Abhyas ) to prepare for the war and also for to build strong relationships between that country.

Why PARA SF eat glass before their Induction as a Maroon Beret ?  

          In the end of their training & before their Induction as a Meroon Beret, They made to eat GLASS after drinking Patiala Peg, Here Patiala Peg means Size of the Glass. & this Glass made up from Borossil. First they break Glass then they chew it for few minutes in mouth after that, glass becomes like sand & they swallow it. This glass eating tradition is for to test their FEALLESSNESS, that's why they are known as GLASS EATERS. This tradition has been working since many years. It shows they can do anything for nation and they can survive in any kind of danger and situation.
